Agricultural Mustangs give special kids a special day

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Last Friday LRHS agriculture teacher Janyel Taylor’s horticulture class invited the school’s special needs students to her classroom to learn more about agriculture. Agriculture students helped the special needs kids make a self-planter made from recycled bottles to plant their seeds.

Junior Sammy Kedziora said, “Since Chick Fil A just reopened I’m definitely going to go there after exams.”.

Semester exam schedule released

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – With the 2016-2017 school year ending, the second semester underclass exam schedule has been released. Thursday May 25 will be the first day of exams; this will be a full day ending with an exam in seventh period. Friday May 26 will be the first day of early release; exams will start at 9:16 a.m.

Dumb jocks? Not at LRHS

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – The Florida High School Athletic Association Academic (FHSAA) ranks winter sports teams based on academic excellence, and LRHS placed first overall. Lakewood Ranch is first in class 8A, meaning that that the school’s teams scored a 3.0 grade point average or higher. The teams that placed first were Boys Soccer, Girls Soccer, Girls Weightlifting, Competitive Cheerleading, and Wrestling.

Faculty award passes from French to Delazzer

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – LRHS Principal Craig Little started a new monthly award this year to recognize the school’s hard working teachers and staff. The recognition is awarded monthly. Each month the teacher who holds the trophy chooses the next recipient. Last month’s recipient was math teacher Macie French.

HOSA Mustangs come home winners

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – On Thursday, Feb. 2, 19 LRHS future health professional students participated in the HOSA Regional Competition at Manatee Technical College. This competition involved many different written and hands-on tests. These tests covered many different topics like nutrition, medical, veterinary science, etc.

Freshmen prepare for first round of exams

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – Midterms are next week at LRHS. Of course many students may be nervous for their midterms, but for freshman this s their very first high school exams. Freshman Luke Malzan said, “I am very nervous to take my first ever High School Exams but I know I will do pretty well on the majority of them.”.

The meeting was designed to further leadership skills of the attendees through workshops, general meetings and listening to motivational speakers.

Sabo takes arts education to higher level

The students in this class don’t run from the challenge of an extra AP course and their creativity and talent comes across in their art works.

Memorial Day calls for memories

(LAKEWOOD RANCH, FL) – May 30 is Memorial Day, a respected day in the United States’ rich history. School is closed and It’s a day for American citizens look back on and give respect to the fallen soldiers who gave their lives to serve their country. The holiday arises from Decoration Day after the American Civil War, when the Grand Army of the Republic established the day as a time for the nation to decorate the graves of dead soldiers with flowers.
